B. Braun acquired Nutrichem

2012-01-30

Nutrichem is specialised on products for special dietary requirement.

Melsungen (Germany). B. Braun Melsungen AG acquired 'Nutrichem diät+pharma GmbH' based in Roth, Germany. Nutrichem, which was previously owned by the Japanese company SSP Co. Ltd., is specialised in the development, production, filling and packaging of products for special dietary requirements, in particular enteral diets, nutritional supplements and sports nutrition. Already in the past, the company has developed and manufactured products for B. Braun on an OEM basis.

To strengthen its business area of enteral nutrition and clinical nutrition as a whole, B. Braun decided to acquire Nutrichem. For many decades, B. Braun has been active in the field of clinical nutrition. However, as of now B. Braun has only been present in the field of parenteral nutrition with products manufactured and developed in-house.

Nutrichem currently employs 285 people (December 2011). There will be no significant changes for the employees, as Nutrichem will continue to operate independently within the B. Braun Group. B. Braun expects a positive evolution of the business which will also be beneficial for the future development of the Roth operations.
